PHOENIX, AZ–(Marketwire – August 9, 2010) – A Yuma couple recently claimed the seventh of 10 available $1 million top prizes in the Arizona Lottery’s $100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers game.
The winners are both retired; however, the wife had recently started a house cleaning business for supplemental income.
“My wife was actually cleaning a house when I realized we had won,” said the husband, a previous RV salesman who elected to remain anonymous. “I had to call her four times before she picked up, and when I told her to come home because I had fabulous news, she asked me if it could wait until she was done cleaning!”
“He didn’t tell me over the phone how much we had won,” said the wife, who also elected to remain anonymous. “I knew it was a big prize by the way he was acting, but I was expecting something more like $10,000!”
The couple plans to use their winnings to purchase a new motor home to travel the United States to visit their children and grandchildren who live coast to coast. They also plan on immediately turning the wife’s house cleaning company over to her business partner.
“Hearing stories like this one really warms our hearts,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “This win will dramatically impact this couple’s quality of life by allowing them to fully enjoy retirement, without having to worry about making ends meet.”
The winning ticket was purchased at a Chevron Self Serve located at 10747 Fortuna Dr. in Yuma, Arizona.
