The Only Property in Las Vegas to Consistently Achieve This Status

LAS VEGAS, NV–(Marketwire – August 26, 2010) –  The Venetian, one of the world’s most recognizable and luxurious destination resorts, has been honored with the highly coveted Gold Key ‘Elite’ and Gold Platter ‘Elite’ awards by Meetings and Conventions magazine for 2010. Only five prestigious domestic and international properties earn the ‘Elite’ status in each award category, based on readers’ experiences. For the fifth year, The Venetian has won ‘Elite’ awards in both categories and is the only property in Las Vegas to achieve this status consistently. This marks the eleventh consecutive year The Venetian has received the Gold Key award and the ninth consecutive year for the Gold Platter award.

As the industry’s toughest and most important critics, Meetings and Conventions readers, representing the highest level of meeting and incentive professionals, selected the winning properties for the Gold Key and Gold Platter awards. The Gold Key awards honors are based on strict criteria including staff attitude, quality of meeting rooms, quality of guest services, quality of food and beverage service, proficiency of handling reservations, technical/support equipment and range of recreational facilities.

The Gold Platter awards honors the top catering departments based on excellence displayed in creativity and culinary experience. Criteria includes staff enthusiasm and professionalism, quality of food presentation, creativity of menu, originality of theme-party concepts, helpfulness and budgeting considerations, excellence of staff service and dining room ambiance. In 2010, a total of 157 domestic and international hotels and resorts were honored as Gold Key winners and a total of 23 were honored as Gold Platter winners, with only five achieving the Gold Key ‘Elite’ level and five achieving the Gold Platter ‘Elite’ level.

“This is quite an achievement to be among the top five properties with the ‘Elite’ status in both the Gold Key and Gold Platter categories,” stated Gary L. McCreary, vice president of Catering and Convention Operations for The Venetian. “Our team strives for excellence and this award is a testament to that commitment.”
