PORT WASHINGTON, NY–(Marketwire – September 3, 2010) –  A Las Vegas resident received the shock of a lifetime on August 31st, 2010, when America’s most welcome drop-in guests surprised him at home. Joseph Beane of Las Vegas was paid a surprise visit on Tuesday, August 31st by the Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol who named him the winner of the company’s latest SuperPrize award of $1,000,000.00.

Mr. Beane learned two days prior to the award that he had won a $1,000 prize in the sweepstakes and was on a “short list” to win “the big one.” But he was unprepared for the Prize Patrol’s arrival — with a “Big Check” and bouquets of roses and balloons.

His name was announced as the prizewinner in a national Publishers Clearing House commercial on Tuesday, 8/31/10, during the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. The unannounced, videotaped surprise notification of the winner is a Publishers Clearing House tradition and a fixture of the company’s TV ad campaigns. Video of his actual winning moment and the excitement surrounding it can be seen at http://pchtv.com/, a Publishers Clearing House website.

Mr. Beane is the 58th Publishers Clearing House winner of one million dollars or more, joining a roster of other SuperPrize winners including Doris Gray of New Jersey, Marilyn Ragin of Florida, Jack Genners of Nebraska, and Natalie Bostelman of Ohio who is now a PCH Goodwill Ambassador who accompanied the Prize Patrol on this Las Vegas delivery. Both Ragin and Bostelman were featured on the Learning Channel’s telecast of “The Lottery Changed My Life” on August 29.

Naturally Joe is mighty glad he entered. Living as he does in America’s gaming capital, he has seen a lot of winning; but he’s never known anyone to win a giant jackpot like his: $1 Million SuperPrize from PCH! According to company records, Mr. Beane filed his winning entry using PCH Search and Win at http://search.pch.com/, a PCH website where users can search the web for a chance to win prizes.

“No matter how many winners we surprise or how much money we give away, it’s a thrill for us every single time,” said Dave Sayer, the Prize Patrol chief who has presented virtually every major Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes prize since 1981. This SuperPrize brings the total awarded in the company’s sweepstakes to well over $224 million — in major prizes alone.
