RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwire – Sept. 29, 2010) – A 72-year-old Nanaimo man is feeling ‘Extra‘ lucky, after winning $500,000 dollars on a LOTTO MAX ticket.
James Lamoureux said ‘Yes’ to the Extra and matched 4/4 numbers on the September 24 draw to win that game’s top prize.
“At first I didn’t realize how much I’d won,” said the semi-retired insurance claims adjuster. “I originally thought the ticket checking machine said fifty dollars. When I had it confirmed I went numb.”
Lamoureux, who purchased his lucky ticket at Thrifty Foods on Turner Road in Nanaimo, now plans to take his wife, Ellana, on vacation and buy a new truck with their winnings.
“We really need a new vehicle,” he explained. “Our old one is basically toast, so we’ll donate it to a mechanical college.”
Extra is the BC-only lottery game with a top prize of $500,000. Extra is available for purchase with Lotto 6/49, LOTTO MAX, and BC/49 at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com.
