PHOENIX, AZ–(Marketwire – October 14, 2010) –  A winner has come forward to claim a $250,000 prize from the Mega Millions drawing Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The winner, who requested to remain anonymous, purchased the QuickPick Mega Millions ticket at the Fry’s Food Store located at 2700 W. Baseline Rd., in Tempe.

After having a coworker double check the numbers on the ticket, the winner calmly approached his boss to take the rest of the day off. He then made his boss and coworker promise they would not tell his secret, before leaving to cash in the ticket. The winner plans to use the money to pay off his car, but has not decided what to do with the rest of his winnings.

“It is always great to see the prize go to a hardworking individual, such as this winner, who is a State of Arizona employee,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “We enjoy meeting each of the winners and learning how the prizes we give out will significantly change their lives. Congratulations to our winner!”

Winning numbers for Mega Millions are broadcast Tuesday and Friday during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson and posted on ABC15.com in Phoenix.

Players can check their numbers by logging onto www.ArizonaLottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotline at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas. Players can also opt-in to receive winning number text alerts by texting “AZLOT” to 411247.
