WATERTOWN, WI–(Marketwire – September 22, 2010) – The Watertown Tourism Council is pleased to announce that on Saturday, October 2nd, between 1:00 and 7:00pm, residents from across Wisconsin will have the opportunity to sample delicious food from more than a dozen of the best brat makers in the land, as these brat makers compete for the title of “World’s Best Brat.” The event will take place at Watertown Airport and is open to the public.
Brat makers including Johnsonville, Klement’s, Trig’s Smokehouse, Piggly Wiggly, Glenn’s Market and many others will be cooking up delicious brats all day. Tickets will be $5 and are available for purchase at the entry gate. Each entry fee includes three “sampling tickets” which can be exchanged for samples of any brats from the dozens of brat companies cooking and competing, good until 3:00pm. Additional brats and refreshments will be available for purchase the entire day.
In addition to the award for the best “traditional” brat, competitors can also submit entries into two additional categories, including “alternative,” which is classified as a brat kicked up with non-traditional ingredients, such as fruit or jalapeno, and “non-traditional,” which include turkey, chicken or tofu brats. Judging will take place on-site at 3:30pm. In addition to a day of Wisconsin’s finest brats, local brewers River City Distributing, Good Ol’ Potosi and New Glarus Brewing Company will be providing a variety of brews for purchase. Entertainment for both adults and children will be plentiful as well, with local Wisconsin band The New Classics playing classic and upbeat rock and roll. Kids will have their own fun and safe section to enjoy as well, complete with bounce house, quarterback toss football game, and basketball games.
“Regardless of who takes home the title of ‘World’s Best Brat,’ the real winners will be the families who attend and enjoy some delicious brats cooked up by Wisconsin’s best,” said Dan Barnes, president of the Watertown Tourism Council. Additional information is available at www.worldsbestbrats.com
