World’s Best Brats Competition Brings Great Flavor and Competition to Watertown, Wisconsin

WATERTOWN, WI–(Marketwire – October 7, 2010) –  The Watertown Tourism Council is pleased to announce today the winners of the World’s Best Brats, held in Watertown, Wisconsin, on Saturday, October 2nd. The event drew more than 1,200 people from across Wisconsin, and more than 3,000 brats from Wisconsin-based companies were grilled and enjoyed.

Trig’s Smokehouse took top honors in the traditional bratwurst category, while the Chicken Cheddar Fiesta Southwest bratwurst from Grampa Rechek’s Sausage in Beaver Dam took the top spot in the non-traditional category. Industry player Johnsonville was awarded top alternative brat for its Hot’n Spicy offering, and Trig’s took home fan favorite. Each winner will receive marketing materials, including a high-resolution image which can be used for marketing purposes, identifying their win as the “World’s Best Brat.”

In addition to the winners, some tasty creations which attendees enjoyed included a buffalo wing brat, which contained blue cheese, crafted by Glenn’s Meat Market, and a chicken cordon bleu brat, produced by Pernat’s Premium Meats, out of Johnson Creek.

The New Classics, a long-time Wisconsin band, played some favorites for the crowd and there were numerous games to keep the children entertained.

“It was a great first year for this competition,” said Dan Barnes, president of the Watertown Tourism Council. “Both the food and support the event received were fantastic. We’re looking forward to growing this competition every year.”
