Viva Panama! On stage at the Vanier Farmers Market This Saturday

OTTAWA, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – Sept. 3, 2010) – The Quartier Vanier Farmers Market is proud to announce the return of the nationally renowned Tambor de Panama dance troupe. “We so enjoyed performing here last summer and are delighted to have been asked to come back!” says, director and choreographer Professor Daisy Espinosa of Montreal where the performers have come from today.

Tambor de Panama is a ballet and folk dance group from Montreal and was established in 1993. A spectacular performance features songs that come from Hispanic, Aboriginal and African roots. The dance troupe performs across Canada in a variety of Latin festivals such as The Montreal Cuban Festival and the Toronto Panama Festival and Expo along with many others. Their performance will be at 12 pm.

“This is part of celebrating all the wonderful cultural flavours of our commercial zone”, says Suzanne Valiquet, Executive Director of the Quartier Vanier Business Improvement Area that sponsors and runs the Farmers Market.

Other events marked for this Saturday, September 4th, include – Mouton Noir featuring Erika Feininger at 9:30 am, Mayoral Candidate Clive Doucet at 10 am, chef demonstrations at 10:30 and young Cody MacMillan on guitar at 11. The market is open from 9 am to 2 pm.

The Vanier Market will be putting on another Artsfest Day on September 11, 2010 marking the end of this year’s third edition and the last day for purchasing locally grown produce.
