Extended Hours for the Holidays
PHILADELPHIA, PA–(Marketwire – November 22, 2010) – The Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn’s Landing, the only completely outdoor Olympic-size ice skating rink in Philadelphia, is the perfect place to spend the holidays. The Blue Cross RiverRink is open throughout the entire winter season with additional skating sessions during the holidays including special sessions on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
Visitors will enjoy the unique setting of this outdoor rink decorated with a huge (near 25 ft.) Christmas tree generously donated by a Philadelphia resident through the Fairmount Park Commission Tree Donation program. The entire venue will be adorned with twinkling lights, colorful lit spheres, and holiday decorations as the Blue Cross RiverRink comes alive for the holidays.

Extended skating session times for December 26, 2010 through December 30, 2010 are as follows: 10:00 a.m. – Noon, 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
The rink is open on all holidays including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Martin Luther King Day (January 17, 2011), Groundhog Day (February 2, 2011-Philadelphia School District is closed) and President’s Day (February 21, 2011) from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Special hours for New Year’s Eve Day, (December 31) will be: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. with special New Year’s Eve parties taking place from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. on December 31, 2010.
Skating admission is extremely affordable at $8 and $9 for Friday and Saturday 8:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. sessions, which feature a live DJ. Skate rental is available for $3 at all sessions. Convenient parking is also available on site for only $10.
