BOSTON, MA–(Marketwire – October 13, 2010) –  NETC Educational Travel announces 2011 Student Travel Scholarship contest open to any student in the US, age 13 to 19. For the past ten years, NETC’s Travel Scholarship has been granted only to a student in a school that has already planned an NETC tour. This year the rules have changed. Any student from any school across the country may enter to win the Grand Prize: a fully paid NETC tour of their choice to Europe or Latin America for themselves, one friend and one chaperone. Additionally, the student will receive a Kodak Zi8 portable HD video camera. A $1000 Second Prize and a $500 Third Prize travel scholarship will also be awarded.

“We are pleased to open our Travel Scholarship Contest to all US students this year,” said Desmond Maguire, NETC’s Founder and President. “Traveling abroad is such a valuable experience that we would like to extend the opportunity to even more students, including those who may not have considered it before. Educational travel shows young people new cultures, new places and a new dimension of their world. Over the years, we have seen how it can enhance personal and intellectual development, reflect well on college and job applications, and help students become better global citizens. It is certainly a life-changing experience.”

NETC’s Travel Scholarship Contest is Internet-based. Students are asked to record a creative, three-minute video showing them using their powers of persuasion to convince their parents to let them travel abroad on an NETC tour. Videos are uploaded to YouTube and a link is sent to NETC. The five videos that receive the highest number of YouTube “views” by December 1, 2010 will become finalists. NETC will announce the three contest winners by December 15, 2010. For more information about NETC’s 2011 Travel Scholarship Contest, please visit: http://ow.ly/2QERS.
