LAGUNA BEACH, CA–(Marketwire – September 24, 2010) – On Saturday, October 2, 2010 the first of six monthly Artist Open Studios will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This self-guided tour is free and is a rare opportunity to peer into the creative spaces of 24 of Laguna’s painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists, printmakers, glass, fiber, and jewelry artists. It’s also a great chance to buy local art, right from the source.
Artist studios are located throughout Laguna Beach with the majority nestled along Laguna Canyon Road. These studios, surrounded by oak trees and rich canyon colors are the creative backdrop for many artists. An insider tip is to drive outbound on Laguna Canyon Road as all the studios are located on the right hand side, making access easier. Start at 1901 Laguna Canyon Road where Julie Setterholm creates her metal and enamel sculptures, and shares a studio with painter Donita Lloyd. Other highlights, to name a few, include glassblowing by Gavin Heath, ceramics by Marlo and son Jesse Bartels, glass fusion by Maggie Spencer and bronze sculpting by Ralph Tarzian.
Laguna Beach has a rich and diverse community of working artists. Spend the day and talk to artists about their creative and technical process. Some locations boast a number of artists working together such as Laguna Canyon Artists at 3251 Laguna Canyon Road. These artists are widely known for their imaginative and experimental printmaking and painting techniques.
