Feature Exhibit: “Art of Persuasion: 100 Years of Propaganda Posters”

NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – October 15, 2010) –  Before original vintage posters became highly sought after pieces of art, their sole purpose was to advertise and promote products, ideas, wars and political viewpoints, movies and travel. Posters are a distinctive art form with the power to influence. This year, the International Vintage Poster Fair, the world’s oldest and largest sale devoted exclusively to original vintage posters, will explore the history of this art form through its feature exhibit, “Art of Persuasion: 100 Years of Propaganda Posters.”

“Our special exhibit allows visitors the opportunity to explore the rich history of vintage posters,” says Fair producer Gail Chisholm of Chisholm Gallery in New York. “We hope new collectors will emerge to gain a better understanding of posters and long-time collectors will have a new appreciation for their passion at this year’s Fair.”

The International Vintage Poster Fair offers original vintage posters for sale with prices ranging from $100 to $10,000. These works of art are offered by the world’s finest poster dealers. Over 10,000 original vintage posters will be showcased at the Fair with a range of styles including Art Deco, Modernism, Art Nouveau, Victorian and more. Artists represented include Cassandre, Cappiello, David Klein, Achille Mauzan, and more. Posters of every genre, including food and liquor advertisements, film, travel, transportation and international events will be represented. All posters available at the Fair have been vetted for authenticity by the International Vintage Poster Dealers Association (IVPDA).

The Poster Fair will travel from coast to coast with Fairs in New York and San Francisco. Admission is $15 for a weekend pass.
