BEAMSVILLE, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – July 13, 2010) – Nestled in the 20 Valley area of the acclaimed wine-growing region of the Niagara Peninsula, GreenLane Estate Winery will officially grand open its doors to the public on the July 16 weekend, announced Robert Paul, President, GreenLane Estate Winery.
To celebrate the grand opening of GreenLane Estate Winery, the winery will be hosting several events for the public over the July 16 weekend including complimentary food pairings catered by August Restaurant, wine tastings, free giveaways and a grand prize draw to win a GE Wine Fridge.
Since acquiring the vineyard from Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits Ltd., the focus of the wine’s production has shifted to an estate winery position whereby the philosophy of embracing the art of winemaking through intensive personal methods will be the key focus including minimal intervention and following organic/biodynamic practices and principles. GreenLane Estate Wines will produce fewer clusters of grapes from mature vines dating from 1990, resulting in creating higher quality wines with exceptional flavour and texture profiles.
“Our goal is to produce world-class wines with a ‘human touch’ which have not been exposed to large machinery to harvest grapes. We will be harvesting by hand so that the end result reflects our commitment to this philosophy and is passed on to wine enthusiasts who appreciate the artisan approach to winemaking,” said Paul.
The winery will produce two separate, VQA approved brands including GreenLane Estate Winery wines, which will be hand harvested and will include Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
GreenLane’s second wine brand is named GREETINGS, which will combine grapes from GreenLane Estate Winery’s vineyard with sourced premium Ontario-grown grapes. Wines produced under the GREETINGS label will include Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Merlot, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.
“Although we are farm-first in our winemaking approach, we want people to share in this experience by visiting our vineyard, taking the tour and visiting our newly renovated retail boutique which can only be described as contemporary farm-house chic,” said Paul.
