First Ever Theatrical Tour Debuts New Material Alongside Signature Favorites
NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – September 13, 2010) – NETworks Presentations, LLC announces the first ever Blue Man Group theatrical tour, currently teching in Fayetteville, AR, and opening in Dallas, Texas on September 14. Tickets and schedule are available at http://www.blueman.com/nationaltour.
The theatrical tour features the “latest and greatest” material created by the ever-evolving Blue Man Group, highlighted by Blue Man favorites. Chris Wink, Blue Man Group Co-Founder, says, “We can’t wait to show the country what we’ve been working on. This show combines Vegas-sized production values and spectacle with the intimate Off-Broadway experience for which we are best known.”
The new sound, set and video design centering around a proscenium-sized LED curtain and high-resolution screen create an entirely new, visual experience — “Alternative-Broadway” for Broadway houses across the nation.
“We love the fact that we’ve been referred to as ‘Alt-Broadway,'” says Co-Founder Phil Stanton, “because, we’ve never quite fit into one particular category. We’re part rock concert, part theatre show; part Las Vegas, part New York. Our show is really more about the collective experience of the audience. It’s about all of us embracing a sense of wonder and discovery, and celebrating together rather than passively viewing a performance.”
Blue Man Group is best known for their various multi-media performances that feature three bald and blue characters who take the audience on a journey that is funny, intelligent and visually stunning. A live band, whose haunting tribal rhythms help drive the show to its climax, accompanies the Blue Men. The original OBIE-award winning Off-Broadway production led to a variety of productions world-wide, including the Olivier Award-winning London production and many long-running productions across the US. As the company develops new projects and encounters new technology, the theatrical show continues to evolve. According to Chris Wink, this is a necessity, “The Blue Man character is naturally curious, he is constantly observing the world we live in and celebrating everything from the silly to the sublime. Our world is in a constant state of change, and as it changes, the Blue Man can’t help but respond to it.”
