Twice the Fun at the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn’s Landing

PHILADELPHIA, PA–(Marketwire – November 22, 2010) – Fireworks at Penn’s Landing have always been a grand New Year’s Eve tradition and since 2009, there is now twice the fun with two fireworks shows taking place on December 31. The annual New Year’s Eve Party on Ice at the Blue Cross RiverRink from 11:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m., has always been fun-filled way to celebrate, so with the continuation of an earlier fireworks show at 6:00 p.m., there will be an additional New Year’s Eve Party on Ice to take place from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Both of these parties are great for all ages and ideal for families as a non-alcoholic way to ring in the New Year.

The Blue Cross RiverRink’s convenient location on Columbus Boulevard at Market Street is the perfect place to view the 6:00 p.m. and Midnight fireworks over the Delaware River. The great food, fun activities, live entertainment in the heated indoor facility, and ice-skating, make both of the New Year’s Eve Parties on Ice the most unique parties in Philadelphia!

Tickets to the Party on Ice are only $30 for skaters and $20 for spectators. Tickets are limited and on sale Friday, November 26, 2010 in conjunction with the opening of the Blue Cross RiverRink. Tickets will be available at riverrink.com through Ticket Philadelphia or by calling 215-893-1999. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Kimmel Center Box Office, located on Broad and Spruce Streets in Philadelphia, and at the Blue Cross RiverRink during public skating sessions.

The Party on Ice from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. is perfect for those who can’t stay awake until midnight and includes snacks, beverages, noisemakers and party hats. This party also includes free face painting, crafts, and mummers as well as strolling entertainment and the best place to view the 6:00 p.m. fireworks show.

Along with delicious snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, the 11:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. party will include free noise makers, New Year’s paraphernalia, photo keepsakes and entertainment will include free psychic readers, strolling entertainment by Mummertime, and the best place to view the Midnight fireworks. 

The Blue Cross RiverRink was developed in 1993 to make the waterfront a year-round entertainment destination. Each year the popularity increases with more than 100,000 patrons enjoying the Blue Cross RiverRink each year. 

Special holiday skating sessions on New Year’s Eve, December 31 are: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; *5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and *11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. (*Advance Tickets are required for the 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. skating sessions).

Regular hours resume on January 1 with the following skating sessions: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; 8:30-10:30 p.m.; and an additional late night skate from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. with a live DJ. General skating admission is extremely affordable at $8 and $9 for Friday and Saturday 8:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. skating sessions and skate rental is available for $3.
