Prestons Restaurant Invents the ‘Palojito’ Cocktail

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwire – Sept. 13, 2010) – Prestons restaurant, a new dinning hotspot in Vancouver and Chilliwack, is fast becoming known for creative cocktails.

Prestons is announcing a new signature drink, the Palojito: the perfect blend of lime, grapefruit and mint.

It can be agreed that the Mojito and the Paloma are two classic drinks that always seem to hit the spot. Prestons has fused the best of these to create the unforgettable Palojito.

It may sound fancy but it is surprisingly easy to make. You can do it at home. Impress your friends. The key is to ALWAYS serve this drink booze-y, fruit-y, and in a large glass. No one likes to get up for refills.

Recipe #1: How to make your own Palojito:

Mix it up
2 oz of Tequila
2 oz of Grapefruit Juice
6 wedges of lime
6 sprigs of mint
0.5 oz of Sugar Syrup
Top up with Soda Water

Shake

Muddle the first four ingredients in a mixing tin. Add in mint and muddle gently. Shake thoroughly, to blend all flavors.

Pour

Serve in a Collins glass, top with soda and garnish with a lime wheel.

Recipe #2: How to make your own Mojito:

The secret is to muddle the lime first, slap (yes, SLAP) the mint to release the oils, then muddle it gently ensuring it is only lightly bruised. The mint flavor should compliment the lime and rum, not dominate. Top with soda sparingly – you don’t want to dilute the flavors.

Mix it up
1 oz of Light Rum
6 wedges of Lime
0.5 oz of Sugar Syrup
Mint Leaves
Top up with Soda Water

Shake

Firmly muddle the limes and Rum, then add mint and gently muddle again. Add Sugar and lots of crushed ice, top up with Soda, churn well and serve.

Pour

Serve in a tall cocktail glass and garnish with a lime and mint sprig.

Receipe #3: How to Make Your Own Paloma

A Paloma is similar to a Mojito, but has a dryer, more tropical flavor. The ideal Paloma is made from fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and is best enjoyed while lying in the sun with a good book and better friends.

Mix it up

1 oz of Tequila
2 oz of Grapefruit Juice
3 wedges of lime
0.25 oz of Sugar Syrup
Top up with Soda Water

Shake

Muddle the first four ingredients to the mixing tin then top with lots of ice, shake thoroughly, strain and top up with Soda.

Pour

Serve in a Collins glass and garnish with a lime wheel.

Come by Prestons restaurant in Vancouver or Chilliwack sometime soon to enjoy these and other signature cocktails mixed by our masterful and charming bartenders.
