OMAHA, NE–(Marketwire – October 27, 2010) –  Tivus, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: TIVU), a provider of turnkey media entertainment technology to the hotel and hospitality industry, today announced it has named Mr. Randall Francis as the Company’s chief technology officer.

“I am delighted that Mr. Francis has agreed to become Tivus’ chief technology officer,” commented Shiva Prakash, Tivus’ president and chief executive officer. “He will oversee Tivus’ entire technology platform from hardware & software to connectivity solutions, ensure appropriate selection and management of compatible vendors, and advance Tivus’ technological advantage within the marketplace.”

Mr. Francis has been an innovator in entertainment electronics since 1983. As national projects manager for Philips Electro-Acoustics division in New Zealand, he developed an immersive virtual visitor’s center at a petrochemical plant using never-before integrated technologies including a computer-controlled synchronized Laservision disc, projection video, compact audio disc, and fiber optic lighting system allowing completely safe public tours.

In the mid-1980s he designed, manufactured, and installed groundbreaking technologies to provide integrated hotel guestroom controls for lighting, air-conditioning, and guestroom access in a high-end Japanese hotel property. The customized solution utilized a soft-touch, low-voltage control system and televisions with a computerized central override providing evacuation messaging during emergencies.

During the 1990s, through his company CVS Interactive Ltd, Mr. Francis successfully managed the first deployment of On-Demand video platforms to Hyatt, Sheraton, Regent, and other hotel properties in the Asia Pacific Rim for a major American Video On-Demand franchise.

“I am pleased to be an integral part of the team tasked with completely changing the hotel entertainment industry,” commented Randall Francis. “I have been dedicated to developing IPTV technologies over the past 10 years and the IPTV industry has today matured to the point we can now successfully integrate current advertising delivery technology, market-ready IPTV components, and newly deployed IPTV compatible content-supplier channels to carry Tivus’ interactive programming in a pure IP delivery environment on a global scale.”

“High demand for Tivus’ unique IPTV entertainment platform is anticipated, and I am confident the formidable task of simultaneously deploying scores of new hotel installations across North America is in uniquely capable hands,” Prakash concluded.
