33 Chilean Miners, 33 ATCO Modular Units in Rescue Mission

SAN JOSE MINE, CHILE–(Marketwire – Oct. 12, 2010) – In response to the incredible mine-rescue mission in Chile where 33 miners are trapped underground, ATCO Structures & Logistics today announced it has provided 33 modular units to be used at the rescue site. The units have been supplied by Tecno Fast ATCO, the company’s South American joint-venture partner.

“We recognized the need for structural support and immediately responded,” said Louie Guglielmo, General Manager, Tecno Fast ATCO.

The units were shipped from ATCO’s Santiago plant on Oct 1. Installation was completed today, after rescue planners determined where best to place the units.

Some of the modular units will be used as a “dark area” to protect the rescued miners from the light, while other units will be used for first aid. Additional units will be used as an area where the miners can visit with their families.

“I am proud that ATCO can be part of such an incredible operation,” added Guglielmo. “Like the rest of the world, we are praying that this rescue mission goes well.”
