LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM–(Marketwire – Aug. 3, 2010) – UK travel management specialists CT Business Travel on behalf of UNIGLOBE has organised a gruelling but exciting challenge in an effort to raise £35,000 for charity – the Mount Kilimanjaro Charity Climb.
CT Business Travel is part of UNIGLOBE, and it is through this association that these organisations have decided to help a very special cause. The charity is Plan and the specific campaign the funds are being raised for is ‘Because I am a Girl’.
Plan is one of the largest child-centred community development organisations in the world, helping children and their families in 48 of the poorest countries to break the cycle of poverty.
Plan’s Because I am a Girl campaign is a global campaign to raise awareness for the plight of girls around the world and the unique role they play in the fight against global poverty. In many countries around the world, girls are denied their rights such as education and healthcare, nourishment and protection – simply because they are girls. But it is proven that investing in girls is a key to eliminating global poverty. By educating girls they will go on to improve the lives of those around them. They will help break the cycle of poverty, not just for themselves, but for their families, communities and nations.
The Mount Kilimanjaro charity climb has been created with the aim of raising £35,000 for an education project in Mwanza, to the north of Tanzania. The project’s aim is to construct a girls’ school residence so that an entire community of girls can access the education they need to break the cycle of poverty. The primary and immediate beneficiaries of this project will be 100 girls, but thousands more girls will benefit as the residence will be used for years to come.
Of the 15 volunteers flying the flag for UNIGLOBE UK, 4 will be attending from CT Business Travel including business owner Mark Kempster who commented, “It is a privilege to help both organise the Mount Kilimanjaro charity climb and to be taking part, I am really looking forward to it and a huge thanks in advance to all those who are supporting us for this very special cause”.
The adventure will begin on September 6 when the UNIGLOBE team flies from Heathrow to prepare for the ascent. For further information regarding the Mount Kilimanjaro charity climb or to make a donation visit –
